Did you know that there might be simple ways that you are sabotaging your weight without even knowing it?

Those that are in the know when it comes to diet and fitness are very aware that there are simple additions to life that can help the fat from gathering around the waist. Here are five tricks to the dieting world that will help you keep the weight off…

  1. Take your vitamins. One of the best ways to make sure you are keeping in top physical condition is to take your vitamins. It is difficult to get all of the recommended minerals and nutrients that an active body needs and taking a well rounded multivitamin can help you be certain that you are helping your body be as energetic as possible. These vitamins and minerals don’t only help with your energy levels, but they also help with keeping you disease free and your muscles, tendons and ligaments strong. Be sure that your multivitamin has vitamins A, D, B, C and E (and for those ladies out there, look for Folic Acid as well).
  2. Get your sleep. This may seem like the antithesis of keeping fat off, but actually giving your body the rest it needs helps in multiple facets. First, it helps your body recover and heal itself from the work outs that you are putting it through. Sleep is actually when your body heals the most. This is also the time when the intestinal track and stomach are able to do their work most efficiently helping with metabolism. Another way that a good night’s rest helps is, obviously, it gives you more energy to do exercise and other healthy actions throughout the day.
  3. Drink lots and lots of water. It is almost impossible to drink too much water. Of course, with your water you should be eating a healthy diet that includes fruits, vegetables and lean protein, but with that being said, water is an essential key to keeping weight off. It not only keeps your body thinking that it is full, but it also helps your body run as efficiently as possible. Try to drink at least two quarts a day.
  4. Take time for a real breakfast. This is truly the starting point of a healthy day, or not. If you begin with a breakfast that includes fruit, protein and a fiber based item you are giving your body the fuel it needs to do all that you demand of it. If you don’t give it the food it needs, it will fight back later with ravenous hunger pains that usually lead to eating not-so-healthy foods.
  5. Make pre-made meals. Making up your own meals in bulk form is a great way to be certain that you will reach for healthy food instead of the bag of chips when hunger comes calling. It’s easy to make up healthy meals like no-cheese lasagna, teriyaki chicken with rice, or vegetable stir fry, throw it in the freezer, and, then, it’s ready to eat when you need it fast.
